C16 – Fire Protection
Contractor
A Fire protection contractor lays out, fabricates and installs
all types of fire protection systems; including all the equipment associated
with these systems, excluding electrical alarm systems.
The Fire Protection (C-16) Examination is divided into four
major sections. These sections are:
1. Design and Pre-Installation (33%)
- Estimating and job planning
- Design of underground systems
- Design of overhead wet sprinkler
systems
- Design of dry and pre-action systems
- Design of special hazards systems
2. Fabrication and Installation (37%)
- Material listing and selection
- Installation of underground systems
- Installation of overhead systems and
seismic requirements
- Acceptance testing of overhead and
underground systems
- Acceptance testing of pumps
3. Testing and Maintenance (12%)
- Testing and maintenance of overhead
systems
- Testing and maintenance of
underground systems
- Testing and maintenance of special
hazards systems
- Repair and replacement of fire
suppression systems
4. Work Safety (18%)
- Heavy equipment safety
- Trench safety
- Power tool safety
- Personal safety
