C42 – Sanitation System Contractor

A sanitation system contractor fabricates and installs cesspools, septic tanks, storm drains, and other sewage disposal and drain structures. This classification includes the laying of cast-iron, steel, concrete, vitreous and nonvitreous pipe and any other hardware associated with these systems.

The Sanitation System (C-42) Examination is divided into five major sections. These sections are:

1. Site Conditions (10%)

Sanitation system location
Sanitation system type
Soil conditions

2. System Design (13%)

Sizing of sanitation system
Plans and specifications
Sanitation system components

3. Installation (50%)

Excavation and trenching
Septic systems
Sewer systems
Storm drains
Pumps and monitoring systems
Drawings, permits, and inspection

4. Maintenance and Repair (11%)

Cleaning techniques
Inspection methods
Repair, replacement, and rehabilitation procedures

5. Safety (16%)

Job site safety
