C42 – Sanitation System
Contractor
A sanitation system contractor fabricates and installs
cesspools, septic tanks, storm drains, and other sewage disposal and drain
structures. This classification includes the laying of cast-iron, steel,
concrete, vitreous and nonvitreous pipe and any other hardware associated with
these systems.
The Sanitation System (C-42) Examination is divided into five
major sections. These sections are:

- Sanitation system type
- Soil conditions
2. System Design (13%)
- Sizing of sanitation system
- Plans and specifications
- Sanitation system components
3. Installation (50%)
- Excavation and trenching
- Septic systems
- Sewer systems
- Storm drains
- Pumps and monitoring systems
- Drawings, permits, and inspection
4. Maintenance and Repair (11%)
- Cleaning techniques
- Inspection methods
- Repair, replacement, and
rehabilitation procedures
5. Safety (16%)
- Job site safety
- Personnel safety
